POINTE & HEALTH
Pointe Technique Classes June 27-July 31st SATURDAYS ONLY! 6:15-7:30pm There is no Wendesday Pointe from June 27th – July 31st (the entire month of July, because because the Ailey School is back in session and we have no space. It happens every July). Regular Pointe technique class will resume our normally scheduled Wednesdays and Saturdays in August through September. You may want to try to do the beginning of your regular class barre in pointe for a few minutes, but make sure you get that lil toe down to support your whole foot. **Grishko Dancewear 309 West 50th Street shop, 2nd Fl between 8th and 9th Avenues. 917.262.0783. Go see Judy and Adam for a Pointe shoe fitting & mention Kat's newsletter for a discount on pointe shoes!
**CUSTOMIZE YOUR POINTE, TECHNIQUE, JAZZ, TAP AND CHARACTER SHOES WITH "MAKE IT FIT KIT" BECAUSE NO ONE HAS TWO FEET EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE! **Eating before class: Time it Right Eating too much before exercising can cause you to feel sluggish or have an upset stomach. That's because your muscles and your digestive system are competing with each other for energy resources. On the flip side, not eating before you exercise can be just as bad. Low blood sugar levels that result from not eating can make you feel weak, faint or tired, and your mental abilities may be affected as well, making you slower to react. Aim for 150 to 200 calories about 30 to 60 minutes prior to your routine. **Eat After Your Class To help your muscles recover and to replace their glycogen stores, eat a meal that contains both protein and carbohydrates within two hours of your exercise session. Protein isn't your body's food of choice for fueling exercise, but it does play a role in muscle repair and growth. Refuel with another 150 to 200 calories after your workout. Source: Mayoclinic.com & our Friends at Gold's Gym. Wow you can join Golds Gym now for only $699 and receive the summer free. Tell um Kat sent ya!!!
