Vladimir Miasnikov: Accompanist

vladimirVladimir Miasnikov was born in 1951 in the old Russian city of Yaoslavl. His father was an engineer, his mother a high school teacher. There was a special value given to music during past generations: His grandmother Alexandra used to sing and play guitar, his grandfather played accordion, and his mother attended State Music College, studying voice to become a professional classical singer.

Vladimir began his musical education at age eight in music school and was known as a child prodigy. When he was a second grade student he was playing the seventh grade program and performing in concerts and competition. After seven years in music school, he entered State Music College at the top of his class, where he studied piano under Mira U. Gaiman, who was a student of A. Yesipova, professor of Leipzig and St. Petersburg conservatories and one of the great pianists of the turn of the last century.

pianoIn 1971, Vladimir graduated with a B.A., and began teaching piano in State Music School and playing for ballet classes. In 1975, he enrolled in Odessa State Conservatory, where for five years he studied history and theory of performance art, harmony, polyphony, composition, music history, philosophy, chamber performance, and piano performance under the venerated professors Serafina L. Mogilevsky and Yury B. Dike. Receiving his M.A. in 1980, he began teaching piano at State Music College and performing throughout the country.

Since 1992, Vladimir has been working in the U.S.A. as an accompanist for ballet classes in Manhattan and New Jersey at Broadway Dance Center, City Center, Ballet Academy east, Steps, Joffrey Ballet, and others. He has worked with the greats -- Nina Stroganova, Madame Youskevitch, as well as Jetta Constaninesky and Jan Miller, and he currently plays for V. Dokoudovsky, N. Orloff, D. Howard, G. Darvash, P. Scabel, D. Meja, P. Heyes, J. Hertzog, and of course, Kat Wildish.

Vladimir is still performing in New York and New Jersey. he is known for his compositions, improvisations and arrangements of instrumental, symphonic and opera music.
